BIO

With more than a decade of experience as filmmakers, Mexican visual artists Natalia and Salomón Sutton translate cinematic narrative into the physical space of the artwork. Working within the expanded field of the image, they employ deeply handcrafted processes that transform the image into a singular object.

ARTIST STATEMENT

In an era defined by digital excess and infinite reproducibility, SUTTON investigates how to restore materiality and presence to the image.

At the core of their practice lies an investigation into the fragility of perception and the tension between permanence and disappearance. What remains concealed becomes as significant as what is revealed.

In opposition to the speed and immateriality of contemporary visual culture, SUTTON embraces slowness, craftsmanship, and the singularity of the art object.

SUTTON transforms images into presence.
